Susan's Learning Theory module of the Beginning Dog Trainer course has helped me immensely as a dog trainer. Instead of assuming I know what is going on with each dog or applying a cookie cutter methodology, I have learned to be an excellent information gatherer. I no longer need to see behaviors displayed by dogs in order to solve clients problems. This is an excellent discovery because no one has to be growled at or bitten in order to evaluate a situation.
Dog training myths abound. Before I took Susan's class I thought I understood dog language and behavior. After Susan's class not only did I have a better understanding of behavior, but I realized I didn't need to know everything about every dog behavior to solve clients problems. Instead I learned how to separate emotions and euphemisms from actual displayed behavior, and from that problem solving became accessible.
I spent most of my life thinking I was going to be a horse trainer - not a dog trainer. But circumstances in my life have lead me to training dogs. I have never looked back. Susan's course was the "ah-ha" moment I needed...and I can even apply this stuff to horses!
If you are going to be a Professional Dog Trainer you better like humans because training is really about the owners. The beauty of Susan's course is that you learn how to appreciate the "owner" as much as the dog. We all learn the same way and watching owners succeed with their dogs is the best part of training!
